Allioli Music Festival 2011 - the Mini Woodstock of the Guadiaro Valley

THE mini Woodstock of the Guadiaro Valley is back again this year – bigger and better. On Saturday, 18 June, 2011 the area will rock to ten hours of live music at Bar Allioli in Jimera de Libar - just off the road between Cortes de la Frontera and Benaojan. Organiser Paul Darwent of Bar Allioli has lined up top bands including Biagra,The Stolen Gnomes, The Reverend Richard John and more to be announced.

Organiser Paul Darwent writes, "Markus and myself were discussing how it would be nice to get a bigger gig together some day. Then a few others heard about it and in May 2009 we had the first Allioli Music Festival outside Bar Allioli.
The locals were delighfully surprised with the musical antics of Kit from Biagra. They were also amused by the name. With music from the group Equis and Ramon from Chile. A great day was had by all.
The following year we set the festival in the lovely surrounds of the Jimera de Libar camp site. Whilst the setting was idyllic the openess distanced the groups from the audience so this year we are reverting back to the Plaza in front of the Bar.
A marquee will be erected and nearly the whole of the Plaza will be utilized for this great festival.
With so many good musicians having played here it was hard to decide who was playing this year.
Biagras new line up should be something to look forward to, a new band with some of the old musicians and some new.
We have booked The Stolen Gnomes. Their mix of celtic fusion with a bit of diddly diddle is always popular and adds delight to what should be a lovely spring day.
Orignally from Sheffield via Costa del Sol talented musician John Wild has put together a Rock & Roll combo with Mel Williams - one of the Lonnie Donnegan crowd. Rock 'n' Roll 'n' Sunshine!
Paul Jones rated The Reverand Richard John so much that we had to book him for some Saturday Blues. Based in Granada this fender-strutting bluesman should delight all lovers of blues and soulful music.
To help with the festival atmosphere there will be a few market stalls. Artesan products, gifts and small items.
Outdoor events are also great times to try something different. In South Africa they have a Braai culture. So Ron Campbell will be bringing along his flame grill with Boerwors and Burgers. The real stuff."
There will be a small entrance charge of 2€ to help cover the costs of the music.
All in all it should make for a great day here in Estacion Jimera de Libar.
