COULD you cope in an emergency? A fully qualified and accredited instructor, Lynda Pudney, is holding a one day First Aid course at the El Gecko Hotel, Estacion de Cortes de la Frontera on Tuesday, January 11, 2011. At the end of the day you will receive a first aider certificate - valid for four years - and go away with a good working knowledge of how to deal with an emergency. The price is just €45 per person  and includes a light lunch.

Lynda concentrates on the sort of emergencies that we are most likely to find ourselves a party to, heart attacks, strokes, choking, drowning, fits etc.

Let's face it, most of us are heading into the at risk bracket and it would be reassuring to know that even if we could not handle the emergency ourself if it was a partner in trouble - but to know there would at least be another 15 people close by to help.

Some of us also deal with the public via holiday rentals, hotel, bikers etc. never knowing when we may need to deal with someone ill.

On top of which those with kids or working with kids would never forgive themself if they were unable to help a child in trouble. Let alone stuck on a mountain miles from anywhere!!

Think about it seriously. We are a small community here, not all with a good command of the language on a daily basis - let alone in an emergency.
