THE rain has finally slowed to the odd shower, the volcanic dust cloud has moved on and allowed flights across Europe to resume - and best of all the local trains are running through the Guadiaro Valley again! Now is the time to hop on one between Algeciras and Ronda and tread in Jamie Oliver’s footsteps and discover the Guadiaro Valley.

The walks through this natural park are phenomenal with plenty of places to stop off for refreshment. Mid way on the train journey from Algeciras to Ronda is the little hamlet of Estacion de Cortes de la Frontera - a big name for this small Andalucian mountain village!

There you will find the Hotel & Bistro El Gecko. A former travellers inn sympathetically restored and renovated, sitting on the banks of the Rio Guadiaro. Under new ownership the El Gecko Bistro offers lite bites or a full menu. Sit on the terrace overlooking the river and watch for otters and kingfishers amongst the abundant wild life that live along the banks of this beautiful setting.

Why not catch the train up or down to El Gecko for a traditional Sunday Roast at just 16€ for two courses or take advantage of the Spring Promotional Offer and stop over night in one of the charming river view bedrooms for only 40€ per person (sharing a twin/double room) including breakfast and dinner? Offer available subject to availability until the end of May. A perfect time of year to explore the area when the mountains are covered in spring flowers and the sun is still comfortable for walking in.

Take a look at the web site for more information (www.elgeckohotel.com) or call Maxine on 952 153 386 for reservations.

We look forward to meeting you and sharing this wonderful area with you.
