WELL KNOWN Gaelic singers, tutors and Royal National Mod Gold Medallists, Gillebride Macmillan and Fiona J Mackenzie are offering you the chance to learn something of the Scottish Gaelic language or Gaelic song, deep in the heart of Andalucia. from 28 April to 2 May 2010. The course venue - the Hotel Bandolero - is situated in the beautiful white village of Juzcar in the Alto Genal, Andalucia, 20 minutes from the historic town of Ronda. The village is a peaceful, traditional village, completely untouched by the mass tourism of the nearby Costa del Sol. This is the second year of the course. It was very successful last year and the organisers want to expand on it this year. They would like more local people, as well as Scots, to go along and participate - not only in the classes but also the evening events which include a traditional scottish Ceilidh (dance/party). We all joined in the gay gordons and a variety of other Scottish dances and we learned about the making of tweed.
Other people came from Barcelona and from Novia Scotia as well as Scotland and Spain.
And all this in the middle of the mountains in Andalucia. So come along to the next one and get a taste of Scotland on your doorstep. The hills and glens are just as beautiful but, I have to say, Andalucia has the edge on the weather.
