MANY residents and businesses in the Guadiaro Valley have discovered that the damage to their property and belongings sustained in the recent floods is not specifically covered by their insurance company policy. However, the fact that you have an insurance policy ensures that you can make a claim to the local office of the Consorcio de Compensación de Seguros. A percentage of your annual insurance premium goes to the Consorcio to cover your property and possessions for 'Extraordinary Risks' ie floods like this and earthquakes! The regional office for Eastern Andalucia (Málaga, Jaén, Almería, Granada) is at Av. Aurora, 55, planta 1ª, 29006 Malaga. Telephone.: 952 061 391 Fax: 95 206 13 92 Email: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . To download the claim form and for more information and guidance visit their web page (in English) at: http://www.consorseguros.es/web/guest/ad_re_rps

Just to let you know that a couple of us have claimed for the flood damage via the Consorcio de Seguros and they were very helpful and efficient. They visited within a week or so and are processing our claims now. The representative who visited me was endlessly patient with my less than perfect Spanish. They do need lots of paperwork though - as usual.

Hi Christine - glad to hear of your positive experience with the Consorcio de Seguros. Have only heard good things about them so far and it appears that claims are being settled within 21 days at the moment.
