THE Spanish Meteorological Agency, AEMET, has issued a severe weather warning with forecast of torrential rain and strong winds across much of Andalucia today and tomorrow (December 23 and 24). Already there have been some minor rock falls on the MA-8401 between Cortes de la Frontera and Benoajan. And the recently repaired road at Benaojan has subsided across half of its width again. The rivers are flowing fast and the River Guadiaro has broken its banks in a number of areas.
Milder temperatures and rain will continue across the country until Christmas. The rain will be heaviest in the west of the country including Galicia, Castilla y León, Extremadura and Andalucía. However with the clearer skies temperatures will fall again with the snow line back down to 600 or 700m in the centre and north of the country from Christmas Day. It means that parts of the country are likely to see a white Christmas.
