PANIC spread throughout Andalucia when it was discovered five gnomes had been stolen. Luckily they have been recovered and they are now due to appear in public on Monday, 7 December during the two-day Christmas Festival at Bar Allioli, Estacion de Jimera de Libar. The Stolen Gnomes are actually a bunch of talented musicians used to playing authentic Irish traditional music and they make a living by gigging in English pubs in Spain. Get ready to hear your favourite (and least favourite!) party tunes from the likes of Madonna and Cher through to Cliff Richard and Black Sabbath - all lovingly recreated on mandolin, bodhran, fiddle, with added flamenco drums and kazoo. No doubt they will also sneak in a few more traditional tunes when they think they can get away with it. Also appearing on the music stage will be Marcus from Cortes de la Frontera - always a firm favourite in the Guadiaro Valley. Bar Allioli in Jimera de Libar, near Ronda, will be the scene of a two day Fiesta de Navidad on Sunday, 6 December and Monday, 7 December 2009. A marquee will be specially erected in the square to accomodate all the festive events. On the Sunday there will be live music from 2pm, Christmas Bingo (in Spanish) from 7pm and a photograph exhibition by Milu from 9pm. Monday will feature a Christmas Market from 12 noon and visit from Father Christmas at 1pm. From 2pm there will be a tapas festival with stalls serving dishes from around the world accompanied by live music from 3pm.
