TWO months of almost continual rain has seen Andalucia suffer its wettest winter since records began. The two months of December and January were already the fourth wettest on record. But when coupled with February it is the wettest period of all time.

ANTONIO López, spokesperson for ADIF - the railway infrastructure company - has reported that the work to upgrade the Bobadilla to Algeciras line is progressing well. Teams are operating on a 24-hour, 7 day a week basis and the work on three tunnels in the first phase between Benaojan and Jimera de Libar is completed.

FROM this weekend Clive Muir and Sue Eatock will be welcoming visitors to the Grazalema Information centre. The Sierra de Grazalema is one of the oldest designated natural park areas in Spain and the village of Grazalema, being at its geographic centre, needed an information resource for the huge number of visitors that head for Grazalema first and foremost when entering the park area. It will provide everything needed for all types of visitors interested in the natural world, gastronomy, culture and activities available in the area. Central to the Sierra de Grazalema, the village is around 25 minutes drive from Ronda.

DANCING flamenco in a kilt? Not possible! But it is – and was, and will be! A world premier took place in the tiny village of Juzcar last Spring. And it will be happening again this year.
Hotel Bandolero, Juzcar was, in April 2009, the venue for the first ever short course in Scottish Gaelic song and language held by well known Scottish Gaelic singers Fiona J Mackenzie and Gillebride Macmillan and it has to be said, a fantastic time was had by all - tutors, students and hotel staff alike. But why Gaelic? What is Gaelic anyway? Surely it’s a dead language (if you’ve heard of it at all).

AIRPORT authorities have been testing the facilities of the new third terminal at Malaga before the official opening on March 15 when King Juan Carlos will be the guest of honour.
Volunteers posed as travellers to test the check in systems of what will be the third busiest airport on the Spanish mainland.

THE gleaming, cream-coloured Silver Cloud Rolls Royce came purring majestically up the windy, narrow street and into the plaza in the centre of Montejaque. The first of the classic cars to arrive, it settled itself outside the Elefante Amarillo Hotel as the plaza began to fill with the other cars which had braved the elements and the mountain roads and made the journey from Monda to Montejaque on a wet and windy Saturday morning.
