YOU know how sometimes in the middle of the night you suddenly wake up knowing something is wrong? Well at 5.20 early Sunday morning that didn’t happen to me. But it did to my wife. She then prodded me and sleepily donning clothes and dripping through the pouring rain I went to check my bar. The night before we had hosted Mijas Hash House Harriers who were having their Halloween Fancy dress Run in the Estacion de Cortes vicinity. After the run they arrived at my marquee and were fed and entertained by Markus & Or. After they had left we closed up and went to bed knackered. When I got to the bar at 5.25am my 12 x 6 metre that was erected in front of the bar was now sitting on top of the two storey building where we are located. The sight of a huge marquee on the roof is somewhat strange. Probably even stranger for the other residents, who now had a marquee outside their first floor windows. The only way down was to dismantle the bits and drop them to the floor creating a lot of clanging and of course getting soaked. So finally back to bed with a destroyed marquee, carpa in Spanish, lying dismally in front of the bar. At least We remembered to put the clocks back so we did get back the hour we lost dismantling the marquee. I tried offering the Carpa as a prize for Sunday's Bingo, but the locals had got wise. Last note, the hares who set the run for Mijas Hash arrived on Sunday morning for coffee. “Wow,” they said, “You got the marquee down quickly!”
